PMI Houston Monthly Meeting at UHD

The Project Management Institute – Houston Chapter hosted their monthly meeting at the Marilyn Davies College of Business on Friday, October 21st 2022. Students, Faculty, and staff attended the event and were able to network with Project Management professionals and heard from guest speakers on relevant topics to the Project Management Industry as well as learn more about the PMP certification and the PMI organization.

Vivek Sinha, CEO of Janus Advisory and Consulting gave the pre-dinner presentation “Digital Transformation and the Future of Work”. The world is changing faster than ever before. Technology landscapes have become sophisticated, business threats evolve constantly, and disruption is inevitable. As a result, it is important to find approachable ways to incorporate AI and automation in specific and measurable ways to free up company resources to drive innovation in your organization.

PMI Houston President Walter Viali gave the dinner presentation “Project Management According to Napoleon – a Lesson in Leadership”. Those who fail to learn from History are doomed to repeat it and as one of the most famous generals in history provides contemporary lessons for modern project managers in how to lead teams effectively and how to produce results. PMI Houston President Walter Viali is a Project Management Consultant and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with extensive project management experience across different industries in domestic and international roles.

The UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business offers over 12 different MBA concentrations among them Project Management and Process Improvement. The Project Management and Process MBA concentration led by Dr.Zhili Tian, seeks to provide future project management professionals with the skills needed to be able to become success project managers and to be effective leaders in their organization. The Marilyn Davies College of Business MBA program thanks PMI Houston for hosting their meeting at UHD.
