Syed Ali is a Lecturer in Management Information systems, started as a business analyst in 1972 while pursuing master’s degree in computer science. Upon graduation worked in the area of finance, engineering and construction, police department, school systems, community colleges, and health care industry.
He earned a master’s degree in computer science from Pratt Institute, New York in 1973; also earned a master’s degree in statistics from University of Sindh in 1969.
During the last six years have taken extensive training in business intelligence software, and various software packages in this area, have taught courses in enterprise systems, business intelligence, cyber security, management information systems. Currently also teaching a course information workflow in MBA program at UHD.
Also will be presenting a paper “The Growth of Business Intelligence in Today’s Business” and another on “Big Data” in a conference hosted by Sam Houston University April 7 – 8. Currently I am working on information technology related to self-driven cars and end user tools to create self-service reports.
Currently Syed Ali resides in Sugarland, and had lived in Houston, New York, Libya, and Pakistan.

​Business and Professional Experience:

Worked on various large to medium size IT projects as project manager, systems consultant, senior analyst, and as programmer analyst:
Works on process improvements for health care industry to automate front and back office using process improvement techniques and Information technology tools.

Implements custom and packaged software to automate patient scheduling, reminders, and follow-up’s mostly using cloud based software with HIPAA compliances, performed advisory and application implementation services, managed design and implementation of tech enabled business solutions for functional clients.

• Completed technical feasibility study on a thirty million dollar police records management system.
• Worked as a technical manager to convert legacy Payroll exception tracking system to SAP/R3, and legacy personnel system to SAP/R3 HR system.
• Developed and implemented enterprise imaging and workflow automation system.
• Implemented BI/Reporting portfolio for HPD executive and operational management, Implemented systems to track red-light cameras ticketing and reporting. Created reports to analyze impact of red-light cameras on vehicle crashes.
• Managed, trained, and mentored technical IT staff.
• Worked on a very large engineering and construction project management system, developed training manuals, business processes and supervised staff.

Also owned IT training company focused on Microsoft technologies.technologies.
