Founded in 1943, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston’s mission is to help people in southeast Texas by providing caring, compassionate services and advocating for social justice in collaboration with parishes and communities. Description of Internship
The programs which usually hosts interns are: Counseling Services, Refugee Resettlement, Immigration Law, Guadalupe Food Pantry, Social Work, Adoption/Foster Care, Senior Services. Programs can be designed to the needs of the student in collaboration with their professor
Criteria for Interns
We do require that volunteers be 18 years of age. No specific professional skills are required; all students, regardless of their particular major, are welcome. We simply ask that students are comfortable working within the boundaries of Catholic Charities' mission and values and that they are respectful of the client population. We require that the students work with our Volunteer Services Staff before beginning their internship which does include a background check, drug test, VIRTUS class, and other procedural paperwork.
