Organization Description

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international non-profit organization focused on providing basic-needs assistance through person to person service. Our services promote dignity, alleviates suffering and distress, while working on addressing the conditions that cause them through systemic change.

The Society has four programs - Home Visits, Food Network, Vouchers, and Disaster Relief. All, but the Home Visit Program, run from our Vincentian Services Center. In 2018, the Society provided 55,000 individuals with direct aid worth $11.8 million! The aid included help with food, rent & utilities, disaster relief, clothing, and furniture. Other needs, such as help with tuition, funeral, or medical expenses, were also provided

Description of Internship
The Society has 6 available positions to be part of our Special Works Assistant Group (SWAG). SWAG will work together to ensure our programs are readily available to service our friends-in-need. This is an unpaid internship position.

Flexibility is key as you will rotate to help in the following areas:
Resale Shop | Voucher Ministry | Food Network | Administrative Work

Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • answering phones
  • assisting our friends-in-need with vouchers
  • assisting resale shop customers
  • accepting and processing donations
  • data entry
  • distributing during our Saturday Food Fairs
  • social media posting
  • other tasks as assigned

Criteria for Interns
You must pass a background check and take a VIRTUS course.
