The mission of the Houston Area Urban League is to enable African Americans and other
minorities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights.
Description of Internship
Perform duties that support child and youth development. Organize and assist with
the implementation of planned activities to ensure participants are going to the maximum
benefit.
- Assist with planning program events/activities (i.e. field trips).
- Assist with attendance maintaining records and other records and reports.
- Assist with program tasks (i.e. developing flyers, copying, phone calls).
- Other duties as assigned.
Criteria for Interns
Six months experience with children/youth program and office experience. Candidates
for a degree in Social Sciences, Education, or Social Work. Skills: Excellent written,
oral communication and interpersonal skills (must possess strong interpersonal relations
skills) Some computer skills (i.e. MS Office applications) and integration of technical
training with soft skill training.
