Organization Description
Project C.U.R.E. collects donated medical supplies and distributes them to hospitals
in the developing world.
Description of Internship
Project C.U.R.E. Houston has an extensive volunteer base. Last year, 4000 volunteers
helped to ship 40 containers filled with medical supplies across the globe. Each
of these containers is worth on average between $400,000 and $500,000. Project
C.U.R.E. relies almost exclusively on volunteers to process and manage our inventory.
We need to keep bright, energetic, enthusiastic volunteers coming back again and again.
The Volunteer Management Intern will be trained to recruit, train, manage and supervise
these volunteers
The Volunteer Management Intern will collaborate with the Operations Director and the Volunteer Coordinator in order to ensure that all new volunteers are provided with an informative orientation before they are placed in work areas where they are the most comfortable and can best utilize their skillset. Furthermore, the Volunteer Management Intern will be responsible for providing the best service to all volunteers-new and veterans by coordinating with team leaders, physicians, nurses, and engineers. The emphasis will be on volunteer retention. The Intern will also represent Project C.U.R.E. at volunteer fairs and community events.
