Mandatory ALEKS Prep Program (MAPP) helps Business students build confidence, strengthen math skills, and prepare for success in MATH 1324.

WHY MAPP?

Your Success Starts Before the Semester Begins

As part of the Marilyn Davies College of Business pathways, students enrolling in Math 1324 for the fall semester are required to complete the free Mandatory ALEKS Prep Program (MAPP).  Completion of the program is worth 10% of the students final grade in MATH 1324. MAPP is designed to strengthen students' math skills and help prepare them for success in college-level mathmatics. Research has shown that students who complete the program are more likely to perform better in their math courses and achieve higher overall GPAs.

HOW IT WORKS

Complete MAPP in 5 Simple Steps

Automatic Enrollment

All students registered for MATH 1324 in the fall are automatically enrolled in MAPP program by UHD.

Activate MAPP to Get Started

After orientation or registration, students must check their UHD student email, accept the ALEKS invitation, and log in to Canvas with UHD log-in to access the MAPP (ALEKS) course.

Complete Knowledge Check

Complete minor knowledge check quiz for MAPP to analyze student's comprehensive levels.

Complete Modules

Students will complete their personalized program at their own pace, with up to six weeks to finish.

Earn Credit

Upon completion , students will receive a certificate and earn the 10% grade towards their overall final grade in MATH 1324.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Mandatory ALEKS Prep Program (a.k.a. MAPP) is a required program for every student registered to take Math 1324 in the fall semester. It's not optional! It's actually worth 10% of your final grade for the Math 1324 Fall semester course overall.

You can start the program immediately after your orientation or registrations. However, the last day to start the course is on July 6th to make sure you complete the program before the fall semester starts.

MAPP is an entirely FREE online program provided from the University of Houston-Downtown.

The max amount of time it takes to complete the program is 6 weeks, however the good news is it's pretty straightforward & self-paced to get started. Some students even finish before the 6-week mark.

Yes, this course is fully online. You should have received an invitation email through your GatorMail (it's the email tied to your student account). Simply open the invite and click the link to activate your account through Canvas.

Yes! MAPP is not optional, it is worth 10% of your final grade for the Math 1324 fall course. Upon successful completion, the Math Department will automatically be notified, and students will receive a certificate of completion and earn the full 10% toward their final Math 1324 course grade.
