Gordon & Mary Cain Student Teacher Academic Merit Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to help support undergraduate teacher residents in the
teacher education programs at the University of Houston – Downtown. Specifically,
the scholarship is intended to offer financial support for resident teachers engaging
in additional fieldwork days in their final semester. Awards will be made to teacher
residents meeting application requirements. The award will be posted for student use
in their final semester following the confirmation of student teacher enrollment in
all PD4 classes.
Scholarship Eligibility Scholarships will be awarded for academic merit. This is a competitive scholarship available for all current PD3 teacher candidates
who will be student teaching next semester and meet the following criteria:
- The teacher candidate must be a declared Education major who is seriously seeking teaching certification in Texas.
- The teacher candidate must be registered for or plan to register for PD4 and Student Teaching in the semester for which the scholarship will be awarded.
- The student must have a 2.7 overall G.P.A.
- The teacher candidate must conscientiously conduct their affairs by exemplifying the highest standards of professional conduct.
