Overview

Perusall is an online social annotation platform designed to foster active learning, a teaching approach proven to enhance student comprehension and retention. This tool serves as a valuable resource for maintaining learning continuity, promoting student engagement, collaboration, and community within courses.

Perusall facilitates active learning by enabling students and instructors to interact through document and video annotations, complete with comments, likes, and hashtags. Additionally, Perusall offers a built-in quiz feature, allowing instructors to evaluate and assess student participation effectively.

What sets Perusall apart is its versatility in encouraging active learning. Depending on your evaluation preferences, students can earn credit for various tasks, including annotating text, actively reading, completing readings, receiving feedback on annotations, commenting on classmates' work, upvoting comments, and even simply revisiting the text. This adaptability makes Perusall suitable for a wide range of teaching formats, whether in-person, hyflex, hybrid, or fully online, ensuring that active learning remains a constant, even in the face of disruptions.
