Kickoff Workshop: Learning That Lasts

In this presentation, we introduce the CTLE team and three of the outstanding professional development opportunities we offer through the UHD Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence. We begin with the Learning Continuity framework, an on-demand resource for teaching strategies. Then we present the credential and stipend opportunities available through the UHD Teaching Academy, an online Canvas course. This session will set the stage for our upcoming Lunch & Learn series focused implementing our Learning Continuity strategies in Canvas.

Workshop 1: Goals That Guide

Crafting clear, measurable objectives helps students understand the “why” behind their learning. This session explores how to define and align objectives with assessments, materials, and activities and how to emphasize objectives using Canvas tools like modules, pages, & rubrics.

Workshop 2: Feedback That Fuels

Explore how to design varied, authentic, low-stakes, and high-stakes assessments that align with objectives and support continuous learning. Implement strategies using Canvas quizzes, Speedgrader and Rubrics to provide timely and meaningful feedback for students.

Workshop 3: Resources That Resonate

Curate accessible, relevant, and engaging materials to support student achievement of learning outcomes. From text content, to videos, podcasts, and more, discover how to source from OER databases and utilize Canvas Commons to make the most of open-access and digital student support resources.

Workshop 4: Tasks That Teach

Design meaningful activities that foster dialogue and deepen learning. This session explores how to create engaging student–content, student–instructor, and student–student interactions through discussions, collaborative tools, and integrated technologies.
