As a new faculty member, you can use this informative page to help you have a smooth transition to your teaching experience at UHD. The list below is targeted towards navigating and utilizing a general technology account for any faculty member. Check with your department for any other additional departmental requirements. Human resources and your department will be responsible for issuing your UHD Network ID (Example: username@uhd.edu).

Technology Teaching & Learning Services

As new faculty at UHD, you will become familiar with the Technology Teaching and Learning Center (TTLC), located in ACAD 700, which houses the Canvas Support Desk. This center provides assistance with Canvas-related issues and offers training opportunities for faculty. You can explore several of the resources available through the TTLC in the list below.

 

Canvas | AccessUHD | myUHD

At UHD, you will frequently use three key services: Canvas, AccessUHD, and myUHD. Each provides essential resources to support your work and enhance your experience at the university.

  • Canvas
    Canvas is the University of Houston-Downtown’s Learning Management System (LMS), where you will log in to access, manage, and deliver your courses. Through Canvas, you can post course materials, communicate with students, collect assignments, and track grades.

  • AccessUHD
    AccessUHD serves as the university’s centralized Single Sign-On (SSO) portal, offering a convenient and secure way to access various UHD digital services and resources with a single login.

  • myUHD
    myUHD is a dedicated SSO portal for Faculty Self Service and Human Resources, where you can view class rosters, update contact information, manage time reporting, and access employment-related tools.
