New Quizzes Classic Quizzes

Item Banks are exclusive to New Quizzes. They are associated with the user, allowing them to be used across multiple courses where the user is an instructor. Item Banks offer the ability to be shared with colleagues through the share feature, with owners able to control whether others can view or edit the bank. Changes made to a question in an Item Bank will automatically update across any quizzes that use that question.

Note: When updating an Item Bank, instructors can make changes without affecting existing quizzes using the Item Bank by duplicating the Item Bank.

Question Banks are exclusive to Classic Quizzes. They are specific to a course, so they can’t be easily shared with instructors from other courses. When questions are added to a quiz via a Question Bank, the question is copied into the quiz, meaning that any changes made to the question within the quiz will not be updated in the Question Bank and any changes made to the questions in the Question Bank will not be updated in the quiz.
