Transfer Students: Your Next Steps

Congratulations on your admission to UHD! We are excited to welcome you to the Gator family. Following these next steps will help ensure a successful transition in to UHD.

  • Step 1 - Get Connected with UHD

Familiarize yourself with your myUHD account, which is the direct link to accessing Transfer Orientation, financial aid, course registration, tuition payment, and grades. Also, set up your GatorMail email account to receive exclusive invitations to upcoming new student events, updates about your financial aid, and other university communications.

  • Step 2 - Explore Scholarships and Financial Aid

UHD offers a variety of financial aid programs to help you cover the cost of your education. From scholarships and grants to work-study, and loans, there are options to meet your financial needs. The priority deadline for Financial Aid is April 1st of each year. UHD’s school code for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application is 003612.

  • Step 3 - Satisfy Your Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Requirement

Complete the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment or submit official scores to UHD. The TSI Assessment is designed to help UHD determine if you are ready for college-level course work in the general areas of reading, writing and mathematics. Exemptions are available if you meet the qualifications.

  • Step 4 - Send your final transcript(s) for classes in progress to UHD

If you are currently taking classes, your official transcript must be submitted to UHD. Faxes and scanned copies are not accepted. Transcripts can be mailed to the Office of Admissions, One Main Street, GSB 308, Houston, TX 77002. If sending your official transcripts by a 3rd party service such as eSCRIP-SAFE, JST, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment/DocuFide, ADDS/AVOW, etc. please use the UHDETranscripts@uhd.edu email address.

  • Step 5 - Complete Transfer Orientation and Register for Classes

Transfer Orientation is an interactive, on-campus event designed to give you an inside track into what it means to be a UHD student. All new transfer students are encouraged to attend Transfer Orientation prior to the start of their first semester at UHD.

  • Step 6 - Explore UHD Payment Options

Installment payment plans, deferment plans, and other payment options are available to help cover the cost of your tuition and fees.

  • Step 7 - Purchase your Parking Permit

Familiarize yourself with student parking options, and purchase your parking permit online through your myUHD account.

  • Step 8 - Submit Proof of Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination

Texas Senate Bill 62 requires that students age 21 and younger entering a public, private, or independent institution of higher education in Texas provide proof of immunization for bacterial meningitis. You must provide proof of vaccination or submit the proper exemption documentation before the start classes of your first semester at UHD.

  • Step 9 - Participate in Welcome Week Activities

Welcome Week is a tradition that welcomes new and current students each fall and spring semester during the first week of classes. It gives you the opportunity to connect with other students while experiencing a variety of fun and student-centered activities.
