First-year students who choose to participate in the program are paired with a faculty mentor and a Peer NaviGator within their college major. Participants engage in a variety of activities both on and off campus, providing opportunities to build meaningful connections with fellow students and faculty. The program is designed to support student success and help ease the transition into college life.

What does a Peer NaviGator do?

  • A Peer NaviGator is a 2nd to 4th-year or graduate student at the university.
  • Helps you learn your way around UHD and how college works in your first year.
  • Shows you from experience how to be a successful student.
  • Connects you to campus organizations, people, events, and resources.
  • Attends campus activities with you.

All Peer NaviGators must agree to:

  • Attend all meetings with your Faculty Advisor and fellow Peer NaviGators.
  • Participate in all special events and activities organized for your group.
  • Read and respond to all communication from your Faculty Mentor and fellow Peer NaviGators.
  • Follow the recommendations made by your Faculty Mentor and fellow Peer NaviGators for your academic success.
