Welcome! Information Technology is committed to your success. The following is a list of highlighted services for those new to University of Houston-Downtown.
 
  1. NETWORK ACCOUNT

    After you are hired, a network account is created for you to myUHD faculty portal, email, blackboard, and your office computer. Some services on campus are under Duo 2FA (two-factor authentication) protection. When prompted with a Duo 2FA login screen you must provide a second factor of authentication. You may use your cellular device for a push notification using the Duo app, text, or call. Explore all Duo 2FA options at http://www.uhd.edu/2FA.  

  2. ELECTRONIC CLASSROOMS

    The general labs are equipped with state of the art technology and a standard suite of software. This will insure your computing experience is consistent no matter where you choose to work. See the lab hours on the following page for S800, C300, and B200, B12.353. For more information:

  3. FACULTY/STAFF PORTAL

    myUHD 2.0 is the FACULTY/STAFF portal that contains many services in one place for your convenience. We invite you to explore the links on your portal and become familiar with the information and services available to you.

  4. HR SERVICES/P.A.S.S ACCOUNT
    Every employee receives a Peoplesoft Advantage Self Service (P.A.S.S.) account, UHD's system for employees to manage their personnel-related information online, including benefits, tax information, paycheck stub, emergency contact. Access PASS webpage at: (https://my.uh.edu).

  5. WIRELESS NETWORK

    UHD offers fast, secure, campus-wide wireless access for your laptop and mobile devices. Visit http://uhd.edu/wireless for more information.

  6. EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

    Sign up today for emergency messages via email or text. Add your cellular telephone number by accessing myUHD 2.0 for faculty and staff. Select “Personal Information” and “Campus Emergency Notifications” and add a phone and email.

  7. OFFICE 365 PORTAL

    Office 365 allows access to your 100 GB email, 1TB OneDrive, as well as other applications. The option to download Microsoft Office for your personal computer is located here as well.

  8. DESKTOP BACKUP

    Designated files on your computer are backed up as a precaution against data loss. Backups are done each evening to prevent certain types of data loss.

  9. TRAINING CENTER

    Information technology training sessions are offered by the Technology Learning Services group, located in ACAD 700.  This area is an open lab for faculty members and staff. Walk-ins are welcome between operating hours of 7:30am - 6:00pm, Monday thru Friday.

  10. LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    Blackboard Learn, the Learning Management System is used for online and hybrid courses at UHD, as well as for many other common applications.  Scheduled face-to-face training classes are regularly offered. 

  11. LECTURE CAPTURE SYSTEM

    Panopto is a lecture capture system that enables UHD faculty to capture video and audio from a room along with whatever he or she is presenting through a computer. Interested in training? Call 713-221-8213.

  12. VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK (VPN)

    UHD’s VPN service allows you to remotely connect to your office computer from home. Learn more: /computing/uss/remotecomputerconnection.aspx

  13. VIDEO CONFERENCING

    Zoom is cloud video conferencing that offers secure, simple, and high quality online meetings, video conferencing, and group chat. To learn more visit: /computing/uss/zoom.aspx

  14. SECURITY RESOURCES 
    UHS Security provides education and resources to help you protect yourself and your data. We recommend that you visit the UHS Security site and become familiar with security best practices.
