Discounted Surplus Computers Available for Students Affected by Harvey
Students who lost their electronic devices during Harvey can purchase discounted computers from UHD's Information Technology Surplus. Units are available for students who qualify for the Gator Relief Fund for $5. Available computers include Hewlett-Packard All-in-One, Dell Optiplex Small Form Factor and Dell Optiplex Minitower. 

IT Surplus computer sales are only available to students qualifying for the Gator Relief Fund at this time. If you have applied for the Gator Relief Fund and been informed that you are eligible to purchase a computer, follow this link to purchase your computer (via e-services) now using a credit card. Choose your pickup location, UHD Main S800 or Northwest Campus B12.339.  ​ ​

Below are answers to frequently asked questions.
Who is allowed to purchase computers?
Only currently enrolled UHD students who qualify for the Gator Relief Fund are allowed to purchase at this time.
 
What forms of payment are accepted?
The cashier handles all transactions. Payment options may be found at https://www.uhd.edu/student-resources/cashiers/Pages/cashiers-options.aspx​. You are subject to all cashier rules regarding payment including transcript & diploma holds, processing fees, and returned check charges.

How many computers may I purchase?
​​One.

May I purchase a computer if I have a hold on my account? 
Yes, provided you qualify for the Gator Relief Fund.

May I exchange my computer?
An exchange may be allowed within ten calendar days for a like system (desktop for same or similar model). Exchanging a desktop for a laptop or a laptop for a desktop is not allowed. 
 
Does the computer include any software?
The operating system will be installed on the computer. You may burn a set of recovery disks using the instructions provided on the Dell or HP website.

Dell Recovery Media – Use these instructions to burn a set of recovery disks from your Dell computer. 
Current students may download Microsoft Office products from their O365 account. Go to https://www.uhd.edu/computing/Pages/computing-o365.aspx to learn more.
 
Can I purchase recovery disks?
You may contact either HP or Dell to purchase recovery media

Where do I get the operating system installation code?
The operating system installation code can be found on the Microsoft tag located on the computer. 
 
Does IT offer technical support for surplus equipment?
No technical support is offered. 
 
How old is the surplus equipment?
Most equipment is three years old.
 
Does my computer come with a warranty?
No.
 
How can I learn more about my computer?
The links below provide a way for you to research your computer by serial number to obtain more information like manuals, drivers, replacement parts etc.
Dell - Type in your service tag number (located on your computer) at Dells Support Site.
HP -  Type in your serial number (located on your computer) at HP's Part Site​
 
Where does all the money from the sale go?
The money from the sale of UHD surplus computers goes into the general scholarship fund to benefit UHD students, maybe even you.
