FRESHMAN ORIENTATION FAQS
Congratulations! Welcome to the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD)! Your experience
at UHD begins with New Student Orientation. We are so excited to welcome you to campus!
New Student Orientation is a mandatory two-day experience for incoming students where you'll begin your transition to UHD and become acclimated to campus. During orientation, you will meet with an advisor, register for classes, learn about campus life, meet other Gators and connect with the UHD community.
New Student Orientation is designed to prepare you for your first semester and beyond at UHD.

Next Steps:
- Register for a New Student Orientation session
Follow the steps below to sign up:
1. Log in to myUHD or by visiting uhd.edu/myuhd
2. Select the Orientation tile
3. Click “RSVP for New Student Orientation” link to view available sessions
4. Choose an Orientation session and complete the registration form - Resolve outstanding holds, such as bacterial meningitis (BMV) and Texas Success Initiative,
prior to your orientation session. To check your status, log into myUHD and visit your Student Center.
- Attend New Student Orientation and register for classes.
- You will return on Thursday, January 11 for our Freshman On-Campus Experience.
As a reminder, you must be admitted to the University to attend New Student Orientation.
Please note: If under the age of 22, you must also satisfy bacterial meningitis requirements to register for classes.
