Jazz, Movies, and Family Stories: A Conversation with Terence Blanchard
Slated for 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, “A Conversation with Terence Blanchard” is part of the 2024 Fall President’s Lecture Series and will be held in the TDECU Tour Room in the Welcome Center of UHD, 201 Girard. KTSU 90.9 General Manager Ernest Walker will join the two cousins on stage and moderate the conversation. The event is free and open to the public and a complimentary lunch will be provided.
UHD Alum Bradford Thomason and “Butterfly in the Sky”
Last spring, UHD alum Bradford Thomason (’04, English) saw the release of his documentary “Butterfly in the Sky, which chronicles a lifelong love of reading with “Reading Rainbow.” Now the award-winning documentary director, editor, and producer returns to UHD at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, to talk about the film and to share what he has learned throughout his career as the editor of seven feature documentaries and the co-director of three of those films. It’s part of the 50th Anniversary President’s Lecture Series.
State of the University Address: UHD’s Bold, New Expansion into Downtown Houston
During his 2024 State of the University address on Sept. 26, University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) President Loren J. Blanchard shared UHD’s bold, new expansion of its footprint into downtown Houston plus plans for a Crime & Urban Issues Data Analysis Center, a new Idea Hub and Entrepreneurship Center, and increased academic programming.
