The innovative program, spearheaded by Dr. Maria Bhattacharjee, Director of the E-Library Program and Dr. Irene Chen, Technology Director and UHD Professor of Urban Education, turns parents' dreams for their children into digital stories. While students are taught reading comprehension and literacy skills, families are trained in technology that will enable them to join the workforce.

As the UHD footprint continues to expand, it's hard to believe that at one time, the entire campus was centered on only one building: One Main. The site of that building, indeed all UHD, is just steps away from Allen's Landing on Buffalo Bayou where Houston was founded in 1836.

It's Hurricane Season: Be Prepared!

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service forecasters predict above-normal hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin this year. NOAA's outlook for the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season predicts an 85% chance of an above-normal season with a range of four to seven major hurricanes (winds of 111 mph or higher). Forecasters have a 70% confidence in these ranges.
