Management Information Systems Tracks (9 hours)

Management Information Systems majors may, but are not required to, choose one of the following professional focus areas. Students following a particular focus will select courses as indicated within the chosen focus. Students who do not wish to follow a focus may choose any three upper-level MIS courses.  

AI and Digital Innovation Focus 

  • MIS 3308 – Application of AI in Business 
  • MIS 4302 – Machine Learning 
  • MIS 43XX - AI and No-Code Digital Startup 

Data Analytics Focus 

  • MIS 3320 - Business Analytics 
  • MIS 4303 - Business Data Visualization 
  • MIS 4302 – Machine Learning    

Enterprise Systems and Digital Transformation Focus 

  • MIS 3315 - Enterprise Architecture 
  • MIS 3318 - Enterprise Systems using SAP 
  • MIS 4340 - Information Systems Strategy, Acquisition, and Management   

Information Systems Security Focus 

  • MIS 3305 - Business Analysis & Processes  
  • MIS 3317 - Information Systems Infrastructure 
  •  MIS 4316 - Information Security Management   

Application Development Focus 

  • MIS 3304 - Business Productivity Software Tools     
  • MIS 3305 - Business Analysis & Processes  
  • MIS 3313 - Designing and Developing Business Web Applications 

Notes: 

  • MIS 3399 - Directed Study in Management Information Systems, MIS 4390 - Special Topics in Management Information Systems, and MIS 4380 - Field Experience in MIS may be used as electives in any focus with adviser approval 
  • Any one upper-level Business elective can be selected to fulfill one of the elective options
