 MIS Curriculum Council

 

  1. Objectives
    1. Enhancing, advocating, and promoting the MIS Degree Program – curricular and student services. (MDCOB Strategic Plan: Goal Area 1)
    2. Providing a forum for the exchange of ideas to support UHD’s currency and positive societal impact in the field. (MDCOB Strategic Plan: Goal Area 3; MDCOB Positive Societal Impact Plan)

 

  • Membership

The MIS Curriculum Council membership is outlined below:

 

  1. MIS Curriculum Council Membership
  2. One UHD MIS Alumnus
  3. One UHD MIS major with senior standing
  4. UHD Executive Director of Information Technology & Deputy Chief Information Officer
  5. UHD Career Development Director
  6. External stakeholders with IS/IT expertise that represent key industries

Council:

  1. Council members shall be in good standing, defined as ‘engagement’ in the form of active participation, responsiveness demonstrated at the MIS Curriculum Council meetings, and/or through insights, connections to significant internships or job openings, donating, or serving as ambassadors to financial donors.
  2. Council Membership Term: The term limit for council membership is 3 years, renewable by the Committee vote.
  3. Council members shall attend the MIS Curriculum Council meetings

  2. All Full-time MIS faculty
  3. FISER Department Chair, Ex Officio
  4. MDCOB Dean Ex Officio

 

Academic Committee:

  1. Committee Members: The Committee members must be in good standing by engagement in the form of active participation in Committee meetings, and responsiveness demonstrated at the MIS Curriculum Council meetings and through insights, connections with IT-related companies, and IT professionals. Furthermore, the Committee members are responsible for selecting the council members as well as reviewing and updating the MIS curriculum to align with new technologies and the IT industry’s needs.  Additionally, every three years, the MIS faculty will elect a Committee Chair and a Committee Secretary from among the Committee members. 
  2. Committee Chair: The term limit for the Committee Chair is 3 years, renewable by the vote of the Committee members. The Committee Chair will schedule a minimum of one meeting per long semester and conduct Committee meetings, lead and coordinate Committee activities, and lead the MIS Curriculum Council meetings.
  3. Committee Secretary: The Committee Secretary will maintain meeting minutes and post meeting minutes to the MIS Curriculum Council “Team” within 10 business days of the meeting, as well as directly circulate them to the Committee.
  4. Committee Term: There is no term limit for the Committee members.
  5. Committee Voting Rights: All Full-time MIS faculty and Ex Officio Committee members who are also MIS faculty have full voting rights and can vote in person or electronically.

 

  1. Adoption of Bylaws
    1. Bylaws are adopted and amended by the majority vote of the Committee. They are effective immediately.
