Requirements
- Must be a current undergraduate student at UHD
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Effective communication skills
- Earned grade of B or higher at UHD in the desired course
- Recommendation letter from a UHD faculty member related to the desired course
- Capacity to work with students with diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to work the time promised
- Must be able to commit at least one academic year to the SI program
- Be able to attend a paid mandatory training prior to Fall/Spring semester
Job Responsibilities
- Attend all class meetings of the selected course, take accurate notes, and understand all the homework/reading assignments and projects (be a model student)
- Facilitate at least two 60-minute small group study sessions per week throughout the semester
- Use 2-3 hours per week to plan group activities, exam reviews, and worksheets to help facilitate student learning
- Provide additional SI sessions as necessary (e.g. prior to quizzes and exams)
- Meet with the course professor weekly
- Report to the SI Asst. Director periodically
- Attend and participate in mandatory SI Leader staff meetings as scheduled
