FAQ
The Academic Support Center offers free tutoring to help every UHD student succeed,
no matter what you're studying. We house three specialized centers:
- Writing & Reading Center (WRC): Expert writing tutors guide you through every stage of the writing process
- Center for Math & Statistics Support (C4MS): Faculty and peer tutors help with challenging mathematical concepts
- General Tutoring: Support across multiple disciplines

Yes, please bring your UHD ID Card to check in. You'll also need your ID and student
number to check out textbooks or calculators.
Yes! Students may schedule:
- One session per day
- Three sessions per week maximum

- Please arrive on time and reschedule/cancel if needed
- Running late? Call us at (713) 221-8669 and we'll hold your spot for the remaining time
- After 15 minutes late (with prior notice), appointments will be canceled
- Three or more no-shows per semester = walk-in tutoring only until semester's end
Yes! We have graphing calculators and textbooks available for use while studying in
the center. Items must remain in the center and cannot be taken out.
We can assist with:
- One assignment per tutoring session (schedule multiple sessions for multiple assignments)
- Homework and study preparation
- Group study sessions with friends
- Essay exams (we'll help with communication and understanding, but won't edit or verify content accuracy)
- Any coursework unless your instructor specifically requests otherwise
- Take-home exams or quizzes during testing periods
- Current classmates (please choose a different tutor from our staff)
- Assignment grading speculation (we can discuss strengths and areas for improvement)
Yes, all student tutoring records are confidential. If your instructor requires proof
of tutoring participation, you may share the email summary sent to your UHD GatorMail
account. Exceptions may apply per university policy, such as Title IX requirements.
