Student Leadership & Involvement Awards
Student Leadership & Involvement recognizes organizations and individuals whose contributions to the University of Houston-Downtown make student life amazing and create positive change. Award nominations are submitted and highlight those students, faculty, staff, and organizations who have showed tremendous commitment, character, and hard work throughout this academic school year. The following awards are presented during One Main Event to recognize special groups and individuals for their outstanding achievement.
Student L.E.A.D. Award – Lead Effectiveness Ability and Development
This award recognizes a significant achievement by an individual student leader in
                                       an active registered student organization. This award is the highest honor given to
                                       a student leader at UHD in student involvement. Through their leadership skills and
                                       initiative, nominees have significantly impacted the UHD community throughout the
                                       academic year.
Greek Woman Award
This award recognizes an individual (one female) within the council who best exemplifies
                                       the ideal sorority member. The award will recognize the person that has been actively
                                       involved within their chapter, within the Greek community, and within the UHD community
                                       at large. They will have promoted Greek Life and their individual organization in
                                       a positive manner through their leadership, scholarship, and character.
Greek Man Award
This award recognizes an individual (one male) within the council who best exemplifies
                                       the ideal fraternity member. The award will recognize the person that has been actively
                                       involved within their chapter, within the Greek community, and within the UHD community
                                       at large. They will have promoted Greek Life and their individual organization in
                                       a positive manner through their leadership, scholarship, and character.
Academic Achievement Award
This award will be given to the student leader with the highest cumulative GPA for
                                       the 2023-2024 academic year.
Individual/Group Community Service Award
This award recognizes the individual/ organization that has demonstrated the highest
                                       degree of volunteer service contributions to the surrounding UHD and Houston communities
                                       during the current academic year. It will be based on quantity of service/volunteer hours as well as quality of service
                                       and programming. This award can also be given to an organization/individual that has done one or more
                                       outstanding service projects.
Rising Star Award
This award recognizes a new student organization and their outstanding achievement.
                                       Through their commitment and special initiatives, organizations have made a significant
                                       impact on Student Leadership and Involvement and the UHD community throughout the
                                       academic year.
Advisor of the Year Award
This award recognizes an individual who has done an outstanding job in his/her role
                                       as an advisor of a student organization during the current academic year.
Student Organization of the Year Award
This award recognizes an outstanding student group that has built a solid organization
                                       and has achieved success in accomplishing its goals. It will be based on the student
                                       organization’s mission and the activities it has undertaken to complete the mission,
                                       demonstration of teamwork within the organization and with other organizations, and
                                       the positive impact the organization has on the student body.
