Freshman Students: Applicants who are, or soon will be, high school graduates, GED recipients, or home school graduates. Freshman applicants have fewer than 15 college-level credit hours earned.

Steps to Apply for Admission as a Freshman

  1. Apply online at www.applytexas.org(link works better in Chrome).
  2. Submit Official High School Transcripts in institution's sealed envelope. UHD complies with House Bill 3826.
  3. Pay non-refundable $50 application fee.
  4. Submit official SAT or ACT scores. 
    The College Board SAT school code for UHD is 6922.
    The ACT school code for UHD is 4170.
  5. Track your application Status.

Additional Information

Freshman-Transfer applicants have less than 15 college credit hours, follow the Freshman Application procedures, and submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.

Texas Private High School and Out of State High School

GED Recipients must submit their official GED certificate in person, or a true copy via mail.

Home School Students are welcome as applicants for admission. Home schooled students are evaluated for admission on the same basis as students from public and other private high schools.

Students who have earned Credit by Examination (AP/CLEP/IB) should submit official scores to UHD. For more information visit the credit by examination page.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Incoming freshmen can view the International Baccalaureate (IB) course equivalency table.

Official Transcripts

All transcripts sent to UHD must be official; an official transcript includes the school's official seal, the signature of the school official, your class rank and size, and your high school coursework. Copies and faxes do not satisfy this requirement. If your high school does not rank class members, include a statement from your school stating its policy, a copy of your school's profile and grade distribution.

TREx or EDI/SPEEDE is the preferred method (your counselor or registrar will know if they are able to send this type of transcript), and will ensure the most prompt processing available.
 
We also accept electronic PDF transcripts (E-transcripts) sent directly from your high school transcript system, although this is not preferred for prompt processing.
If the transcript service your high school uses is requesting an email address, please use uhdetranscripts@uhd.edu.
 
If electronic transcript delivery is not an option at your high school, please request for an official transcript to be sent by mail in a sealed envelope directly to UHD to the mailing address below. UHD does not accept faxed transcripts or transcripts sent via email attachment by students.
