Freshman Orientation Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why is Freshman Orientation required?
All new students are required to attend Freshman Orientation. Freshman Orientation consists of two mandatory programs, Gator Ready and Gator Gateway, that will help you begin your transition to UHD and become acclimated to campus. You are required to attend both programs if you plan to enroll as a full-time student.

  2. What is the difference between Gator Ready and Gator Gateway?
Gator Ready is a one-day program where you will finalize your enrollment at UHD. During the program, you will learn more about UHD and campus resources. You will have the opportunity to speak to an academic advisor and register for classes.

Please note: We recommend students satisfy
Bacterial Meningitis and TSI requirements prior to attending Gator Ready.

Gator Gateway is an interactive 3-day program designed to help you become more comfortable with your transition to UHD and provide you with more campus resources to ensure your first-year is successful. During this on-campus program, you will learn how to be a successful Gator, interact with faculty and staff from your intended major, hear more about student activities, connect with other new Gators, and more!

You will be assigned a Gator Gateway session upon completion of Gator Ready.
