GTAP Faculty FAQ

GTAP Faculty FAQs

The Gator Textbook Access Program (GTAP) is a course materials affordability program that provides all students (undergraduate and graduate) with access to their required materials by the first day of class for a flat, per semester fee.

The GTAP fee covers required course materials for undergraduate and graduate students. Course materials are defined as any item with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) that is legally available for sale or distribution in the United States to the higher education market. This includes e-books, courseware, and clickers. Only materials marked by faculty as, “Required” will be included in the GTAP fee. Recommended materials are not included in the GTAP fee.

Products and services that are not eligible for GTAP include but are not limited to web subscriptions such as Inchainge and Esri ArcGIS; software, survey, evaluation and assessment tools; and supplies such as goggles and science and art kits. In addition, recommended materials are not included in the GTAP fee.

  • Academic freedom is ensured by preserving faculty choice.

  • Course material adoption process and ancillary material delivery for PowerPoints, quizzes, test banks, solutions, etc. remains the same through Your UHD Campus Store.

  • Materials are available digitally through the Canvas Learning Management System.

  • And most importantly, students are prepared for learning on day one!

Course material adoption deadlines for each term are:
                          Summer Deadline: March 15
                          Fall Deadline: April 15
                          Spring Deadline: October 15

The UHD Campus Store will help faculty obtain instructor desk copies of current editions as needed.    Digital titles are provided by e-reader.

Ancillary materials such as PowerPoints, quizzes, test banks, and solutions will be delivered in the same manner as they are now.

Digital materials will be available through the Canvas Learning Management System.

Below is a template that you may want to consider using for your syllabi. Feel free to customize the message for your particular course:

Undergraduate students/graduate students enrolled in this course have been automatically opted into the Gator Textbook Access Program (GTAP). GTAP provides students access to required course materials on or before the first day of class for a flat, per semester fee. Digital materials are available through Canvas, our Learning Management System (LMS). If there are physical materials assigned in this course, Your UHD Campus Store will email you when they are ready to be picked up. You may choose to opt out of the GTAP fee through your student account; however, if you opt out, you will need to procure the course materials for all your classes on your own. Please visit the GTAP website for more program information or visit support.follett.com to request customer support.

Faculty will be notified at the point of adoptions and students will be notified at the point of course registration. Additionally, all participating students and faculty will receive communications to their school email address providing them with all necessary program information including deadlines, fees, and how to opt-out/opt-in as available. Be on the lookout for the following emails with the following subject lines:

  • Kortext | Your New Materials from… | Faculty
  • Important Information Regarding your Course Materials for the Upcoming Term | Faculty & Students
  • Welcome to Gator Textbook Access Program (GTAP) | Students
  • Your Order is Ready for Pick-Up | Students with physical materials

This is a part of the GTAP process. The materials that are being provided to students will be listed as required, so it will provision to the students as part of GTAP. The item that is listed as ‘recommended’ is the same material, but the option for students who opt out of GTAP, so that they can purchase materials outside of GTAP if needed.

Students that choose to opt out of GTAP will lose access to their GTAP-provided digital course materials between 1 and 14 days after they opt out (longer in some cases.) At that point, those students will need to pay via the paywall to regain access to those materials.

Courseware is the technical term for your online components with publishers. You may know them as Connect (McGraw Hill), MindTap (Cengage), MyLab (Pearson) and Achieve (MPS) are just a few. Please note that these materials have a different ISBN than the textbook, and if you are using these courseware items, it is vital that you supply us with the ISBN for the courseware or send us an email to assist in getting the correct ISBN. Otherwise, your students may receive the incorrect materials.
