Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity

The Cybersecurity Degree Program, designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity. This comprehensive program covers a wide range of topics, including programming, network security, cryptography, digital forensics, and ethical hacking, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of modern cybersecurity.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

The B.S. in Cybersecurity has the following program learning outcomes:
  • Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  • Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  • Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  • Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.

Students should meet with a UHD Academic Advisor to develop their own plan.

ADMISSIONS AND DECLARATION OF MAJOR

Students may declare a major in Cybersecurity if they meet the following criteria:
 

Continuing Students at UHD

  • UHD GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Earned at least 24 college-level semester credit hours
  • C or better in MATH 1301 or (MATH 1302, MATH 1404, MATH 1505, MATH 2401, MATH 2402, or MATH 2403)
  • Credit or enrollment in ENG 1302

Students Transferring to UHD

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Earned at least 24 college-level semester credit hours
  • C or better in MATH 1301 or (MATH 1302, MATH 1404, MATH 1505, MATH 2401, MATH 2402, or MATH 2403)
  • Credit or enrollment in ENG 1302

Freshmen Meeting Freshman Admissions Criteria to UHD

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Earned at least 24 college-level semester credit hours
  • C or better in MATH 1301 or (MATH 1302, MATH 1404, MATH 1505, MATH 2401, MATH 2402, or MATH 2403)
  • Credit or enrollment in ENG 1302
