Juror's Statement

These artists are all champions. They have persevered through a year of swift change and complexities to bring power and inspiration through their works. This exhibition is brilliant evidence of the meaningful, collaborative mission of the Artists and Arts programs of University of Houston Downtown. My award selection process included considerations of the artist's creative expression, their application of media and the addition of layered meaning. I am honored to have been introduced to each of these artists through their works and I wish them all well on their journeys ahead. - Rebecca Hamm
