VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) at UHD
As tax season approaches, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is proud to launch its annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, offering free federal income tax preparation and electronic filing services to individuals and families in need. Designed to support those who generally earn $67,000 or less, as well as college students, international individuals, older adults, people with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers, UHD VITA helps ensure equitable access to essential tax services. Through in-person and virtual appointments, the program empowers the community while providing UHD students with hands-on, real-world experience in tax preparation.

VITA Training

We are offering one-day VITA training sessions to prepare students to serve as tax volunteers during the upcoming busy tax season. This opportunity is open to UHD students (current and alumni). Participation in the VITA program requires certification, and we provide the training needed to become certified. Once certified, students will be scheduled to serve with the VITA program.
