Faculty/Staff Information & Updates

Parking permits are renewed on an annual basis and are available to benefits eligible employees, both part-time and full-time, through a pre-tax payroll deduction.  By obtaining a parking permit (virtual or hangtag), the permit holder acknoledges the responsibilit to become familiar with UHD's parking policies and regulations.  All parking and transportation policies are guided by the University of Houston-Downtown Traffic and Parking Policy PS-01.B.01.

All vehicles owners are required to register thier license plate and display a valid UHD parking permit when parking on university parking lots. Please visit our General Rules and Regulations page for more information. 

In the parking garages, designated parking areas are indicated by color-coded columns.

  • Blue Columns: Academic Bldg. Garage (P1 & P2) will be for unreserved parking for Staff and Faculty all hours, all days.  However, Faculty should not park on P2 unless the faculty area on P3 Girard Street bldg. garage is full.
  • Red Columns: Academic Bldg. Garage (P3) Reserved Parking Permit required, Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm. Vehicles parked in this area other than allowed by the reserved parking permit holder during enforced parking times will be cited for parking in an unassigned area.
  • Green Columns: Girard Street Bldg. Garage-P3 (through second set of gates) unreserved parking for Faculty, Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm.
  • ​Fridays only, Staff may park in the interior rows only. Faculty-only parking is identified with posted signage.​

Please note that faculty and staff credentials are not accessible for entry into the Visitor Parking Garage.
 
Disabled Parking Privileges 
Parking in ADA sdesignated spaces on UHD property requires a display of a valid state issued ADA placard or license plate (permanent or temporary) along with a University disabled parking permit when parked in any disabled parking spaces on campus.
 
Motorcycles
Motorcyle owners are required to register their motorcycle in accordance with the same rules and conditions applicalbe to all vehicle owners. Designated motorcycles spaces are located in the Visitor Garage and Naylor Street garage.
 
UHD is not responsible or liable for any damage to and/or theft of any vehicle, its equipment or content while the vehicle is parked on university-owned property.
