If you wandered into the Shea Street Building late in the day on Wednesday, April 16, you might have thought nothing was going on. Other than security personnel at the front desk, no one was on the first floor. It wasn’t until you reached the third floor that it was evident that a celebration was taking place, and not just any celebration. The space was packed with students, faculty, and staff. They all came out in full force for one reason only: Marilyn Davies, the namesake of UHD’s College of Business.

For UHD's recent Donor Scholarship Luncheon, opportunity, academics, and, perhaps most of all, gratitude were the words of the day. After all, the third annual luncheon, held on April 2, was a celebration of UHD scholarship recipients' exceptional accomplishments made possible by higher education, and a chance for scholars to say thank you, and for donors to meet and return the thanks to the 40 high-achieving Gators in attendance.

Jose Vazquez, Associate Director of Student Leadership and Involvement, is more than just a campus leader. He’s an example of resilience, authenticity, and academic triumph. As a college student and proud Latino, Vazquez's mission is to support students who, like him, are navigating higher education for the first time. In his spare time, you can find him cheering for the Houston Astros, reminiscing about his years playing soccer, or bonding with his rescue dogs, Aimee and Sasha.

Antoinette Mosley, a Houston native of Bahamian heritage, walked a winding path to graduation, the completion of which is a testament to her resilience and determination. Starting college at 16, she navigated life's complexities before returning to complete her accounting degree after the pandemic, amassing an impressive 151 credits.

UHD Unveils Fully Online MBA Option
You've decided to pursue your MBA. Now what? If you've searched "MBA programs in Houston" online, you might be a little...overwhelmed. There isn't a shortage of MBA programs and making the right choice for your lifestyle, budget, and career goals can certainly feel daunting. Now, the University of Houston-Downtown's Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)-accredited business school, Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB), offers fully online MBA options. The online MBA format is available for six of the nine MBA concentrations, giving students a wide-range of choices for virtual learning.
