A playful mix of comics and anime characters invaded UHD’s Wellness & Success Center (WSC) on Saturday, Feb. 7, for the first-ever Gator Con, UHD’s incredibly well produced version of Comicpalooza. Half of the more than 300 attendees were UHD students with the other half from neighborhoods across the Houston area. What a great way to introduce visitors to our campus (and our stunning WSC!) with a full day of connection, creativity, and shared interests.

Hosted by UHD Student Leadership and Involvement in collaboration with Sports & Fitness and community partners, GatorCon featured 40 vendors, six engaging panels, and performances by Gator Groove and UHD Cheer team.

“We are incredibly proud of the strong turnout and enthusiasm surrounding Gator Con 2026 and believe this year’s event has set the foundation for an even bigger experience in the future,” said Jack Weisberger, Gator Con Planning Committee Chair and Coordinator for the Center for Student Leadership & Involvement.

“We are deeply grateful to our sponsors: 8554mylogo.com, The Lange Law Firm, Comicpalooza 365, and BH Photo Images & Photo Booth, LLC, whose support made this event possible. We are also thankful for the opportunity to bring the campus and community together through an event like Gator Con.”
