We’re excited to have you join us on this incredible journey of learning, connection,
and growth. Before classes begin, we invite you to take part in one of UHD’s most
meaningful traditions: New Student Convocation.
What is New Student Convocation?
It’s the official kickoff to your academic journey at the University of Houston-Downtown—a
special event that brings together the incoming Class of 2030, faculty, staff, current
students, and special guests. This is your moment to be formally welcomed into the
Gator community!
At Convocation, you’ll experience the spirit and values that define UHD. It’s more than a ceremony—it’s a celebration of who we are. You’ll have the chance to connect with professors and peers, engage in conversations that spark your motivation, and hear practical advice to help you succeed in and out of the classroom.
Attendance is required.

- Student Organizations Fair- Connect with resources to kick your year off right! Enjoy music and entertainment by DJ Rosez.

DJ Rosez is Houston based queer Salvadoran DJ, UHD alumni who started her mixing career during the pandemic. Her goal was to increase representation for queer latinx women. She is known for curating "latin vibes" by playing a fusion of latinx hits and amazing mash-ups. Rosez, has done major sets for SXSW, Boiler Room, has worked for artists like Karol G, Bad Bunny, Megan Thee Stallion. She has been played abroad in countries, like Canada, Mexico and El Salvador! friendships, fuel your goals, and ignite your passion for learning.
