Shortly after he stepped into the role as Chief of Police at UHD, Clemente Rodriguez made it clear that one of his goals was to strengthen safety and visibility across campus and along the public transit routes that flow through downtown.

Among the many recent changes implemented is an increase in officer presence in parking lots, garages, and exterior campus areas through a High Visibility Patrol Initiative,

Rodriguez has also begun leveraging relationships with local law enforcement agencie—including METRO Police Department, Houston Police Department, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office—to strengthen coordination around safety in and around campus and public transit lines frequently used by UHD students, faculty, and staff.

That collaboration was recently highlighted through a joint public safety awareness campaign involving UHDPD, UH, and METRO Police leadership focused on transit safety and campus-area awareness.
