UHD's 80th commencement ceremonies on May 8 brought Gator graduates, their loved ones, and a few familiar faces to the Fertitta Center to celebrate our students’ dedication and perseverance.

During the first ceremony, graduates of the Marilyn Davies College of Business and the College of Sciences and Technology crossed the stage.

Interim President Bordelon welcomed attendees, and graduating student Mitchell Nasser, Computer Science, delivered thoughtful remarks to his fellow Gators, while Marilyn Davies, was presented with an honorary degree in recognition of her significant contributions to the university's mission, its recent successes, and the lasting legacy her gifts will leave.

A visionary entrepreneur, philanthropist, and advocate for higher education, her leadership has left an indelible mark on Houston’s business and academic communities. A native Houstonian, Davies serves as Chief Executive Officer of Bailey Banks Seismic, L.P., a proprietary seismic data company that provides critical geophysical data to the energy industry.

The second ceremony followed, honoring graduates of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Public Service. Alexis Beltran, a Political Science graduate, delivered the student remarks.

Former UHD president Loren J. Blanchard was also in attendance and delivered an inspiring keynote address to graduates and guests at both ceremonies.
