UHD’s Rhythm & Books Series, a series of intimate, live recordings, goes international! On Tuesday, April 7, UHD welcomes the London-based band Yuuf, known for their original compositions ranging from ambient music to driving grooves, to 40,000 Windows Café in UHD’s W.I. Dykes Library, One Main Building. This installment of Rhythm & Books is in partnership with the UHD Academic Success Center’s "Unplugged" series.

Yuuf is currently on an international tour and will present this free Rhythm & Books workshop from noon to 1 p.m. on April 7 before performing in concert later that night at 7 p.m. at White Oak Music Hall.

Each of Yuuf’s four band members originate from a different country (England, France, Switzerland, and Denmark), and they draw from their unique cultural backgrounds for the band’s original compositions. Bassist Anthony Boatright, guitarist Hugo Cottu, drummer Oliver Overgaard, and percussionist Andrin Haag naturally blend their diverse musical tastes to shape the rich sound of Yuuf’s dreamlike music. A stunning YouTube live session of their debut EP “In The Sun-Live in Surrey Hills” currently has an impressive 2.6 million organic views.

Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, Rhythm & Books is the brainchild of Spencer Lightsy, UHD Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. “With this series, our aim is to transform UHD’s library space into a dynamic stage (and recording studio) for talented musicians and share that experience with our students,” said Lightsy.

For those who can’t make the workshop, the live, video recording of the workshop will become available on UHD’s YouTube channel.
