What does it take to turn creative work into a career? How can one wrangle one's artistic passions and channel them into paychecks? UHD’s Arts and Communication Festival will answer these questions and more, connecting students with working artists, industry professionals, and real-world creative practitioners.
The festival’s keynote speaker, Alicia Eggert—an internationally recognized artist whose work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery—will give students an inside look at how conceptual ideas evolve into large-scale public works. Her talk, “This Present Moment,” will walk through the technical, creative, and professional challenges behind her installations, offering students a clearer understanding of how artists build sustainable, real-world careers.
