Students, Faculty, and Staff: A Call for Proposals
Want to be a part of the 2026 Gulf-South Summit on Service-Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education, themed “Bridging the Bayou: Pathways of Community”? The regional conference, slated for March 26-28, 2026, is being held right here at UHD. Our faculty and staff are encouraged to submit proposals for presentations on service learning, courses, and/or partnerships that impact students and communities through knowledge, engagement, and action. Students are encouraged to propose posters/visual displays on civic engagement projects and programs, too. Please note the deadline for submission is Friday, Oct. 3.
The mission of the Summit is to promote networking among practitioners, research, ethical practices, reciprocal campus-community partnerships, sustainable programs, and a culture of engagement and public awareness through service-learning and other forms of civic engagement. Since 2003, the Summit has provided a dynamic forum to discuss the successes and challenges of higher education's drive toward true community engagement.
Service learning and community engagement permeate so much of the teaching, research, and knowledge-transfer taking place at UHD—they are part of the Gator DNA. Put the Gulf-South Summit on your calendar and participate!
