Did you know the University of Houston-Downtown has its own radio station? UHD iRadio gives students the opportunity to share their voices, passions, and creativity on air. Broadcasting 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday the station can be heard by downloading the free RadioFX app and searching “UHD iRadio.”
Each show is completely student run, from the playlists to the topics and conversations. Whether it's sport, politics, pop culture, or music, students bring their unique perspectives to the mic. Student hosts shared that the immediacy of going live on air helps them grow in confidence, communication, and creativity.
“It's about connecting with others and learning how to express yourself,” one student explained.
Students can get involved with UHD iRadio once they are classified as a junior, either as volunteers or by earning internship credit through the university. The experience offers hands-on training in broadcasting, media production, and storytelling—all while building community on campus.
Tune in and support your fellow Gators on UHD iRadio, where every voice has the power to be heard.
