This fall the O’Kane Theatre presents Yasmina Reza's dark comedy, “God of Carnage.” The 2008 play centers on two sets of helicopter parents who meet to resolve a playground fight between their children, and what starts as polite conversation quickly spirals, leaving the parents to, according to Luke Fedell, Director of the O’Kane Theatre, "devolve into acting like children themselves." Fedell also said that the play’s humor lies in showing what absurdities can arise when people in conflict stop communicating with one another.

Director Tim Klein, Associate Professor of Arts and Communication, chose this show, featuring a small cast of four actors (two students, two alumni), to balance the season's busy schedule. The show will feel highly personal, though, and not just because of the smaller cast. For “God of Carnage,” the O’Kane Theatre is being modified to stage the performance in the round, with seating on all four sides of the stage.

"God of Carnage” is set to open at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 in UHD’s O’Kane Theatre (OMB Third floor). Tickets are $8.45 each and are available online and at the box office.
