Service to others is a hallmark of the University of Houston-Downtown, and GatorServe is a UHD tradition. GatorServe brings together UHD students, staff, faculty, friends, families, and community partners to complete projects in service to its neighbors for the two National Days of Service in remembrance of 9/11 and in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr.
In memory of the civil rights leader’s tremendous life and legacy, UHD is partnering with HISD's Houston Promise Program to help at Dogan Elementary at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. Volunteers may choose between indoor and outdoor opportunities as we will mulch
playgrounds, clean classrooms, pressure wash, and paint alongside some community clean
up. Tools and training will be provided by volunteer leads. This event is presented by UHD’s Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning.
Dogan Elementary is located at 4202 Liberty Rd, Houston, TX 77026, just a few minutes from UHD. Ample parking is available but carpooling is encouraged
to reduce congestion.
