Gun Free Event Space Request Form

In June, 2015, the 84th Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 11 (SB 11), also referred to as Campus Carry. S.B. 11 expands the areas on public university campuses where people who hold a License to Carry (LTC) may carry concealed handguns, provided the area has not been designated by the University as a gun-free area. While required to comply as of August 1st, 2016, universities had discretion to implement the law based on the culture unique to the respective campus and taking into account a focus on maintaining safety and gathering input from the greater campus community. You can read the full policy and see the UHD Gun-free areas. At times when school-aged children (K-12) are present for summer educational activities beginning on the day after the last official day of the spring semester to the day prior to the first day of the fall semester, the entire One Main Building (inclusive of One Main Building, the Academic Building and the Girard Street Building but excluding the parking garage) will be gun free.
