Ms. Ludmila “Mila” Golovine, is owner of Houston’s MasterWord Services, ranked as one of the Top 50 Globally and Top 14 North American largest language services provider. Ms. Golovine will talk about vicarious trauma, which is defined as the occupational challenge from working in the fields of victim services, law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire services, and other allied professions, due to continuous exposure to victims of trauma and violence. Ms. Golovine will focus primarily on how vicarious trauma affects the interpreting profession and she will discuss several strategies that language service professionals can utilize to cope with trauma exposure.
