Cox Radio, Inc. owns, operates or provides sales and marketing services to 86 stations in 19 markets. This radio portfolio includes 71 FM stations and 15 AM stations. In 16 of its 19 markets, Cox Radio, Inc. operates three or more stations.  In Houston, Cox Radio operates KKBQ-FM-The New 93Q Country, KTHT-FM-Country Legends 97.1, KHPT-FM-106.9 The Point, and KGLK-FM-107.5 The Eagle.

Internship Dates
Applications accepted for each spring/summer/fall semester. The application deadline is the first day of the respective semester for the UH Main Campus (for fall 2009, the deadline is extended to August 31st), and the duration of the internship will extend through the last class day.

The responsibility of the intern is to work in each department at Cox Radio and gain working knowledge by observing each department, watching what they do, participate if applicable, to observe and get an idea of the core business of radio, the importance of teamwork and how departments interact with each other.  The student will learn all aspects of radio observing in our Promotions Department, Sales Department, Traffic Department, Programming Department, and Production Department.  Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to Melodye Hodges.

Learning Objectives:

  • Students intending to enroll in internship course must obtain permission from the internship instructor-of-record, their advisor and the internship site supervisor where they intend to participate in the internship. 
  • Students enrolled in the internship program must complete a minimum of 12 clock hours at the internship site. (may vary from 6-16weeks depending on student internship program).
  • Students must submit a weekly, double-spaced report on their internship activities to the university instructor-of-record, their advisor and the internship site supervisor.

This is a non-paid Internship available for college credit only.
