Special Events and Development Internship

Bering Omega Community Services exists to nurture the well-being and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of persons affected by HIV/AIDS through compassionate health care and social services. Bering Omega is currently seeking motivated and compassionate students to join our team as a part-time special events and development inter. The intern will assist Bering Omega's resource development staff in executing several development initiatives, including Sing for Hope, Art for Hope, our YPB Toga Party and Bingo events.

Internship Duties:

  • Managing Bering Omega’s social media accounts and evaluating content
  • Tracking media coverage of Bering Omega events
  • Assisting Bering Omega’s Young Professionals Board in planning and executing fundraising events
  • Pitching Bering Omega events to local media
  • Writing Bering Omega’s monthly newsletter
  • Drafting and distributing news releases
  • Updating the website as needed

Requirements:

  • An interest in HIV/AIDS and its effect in the community
  • Sophomore, junior or senior in college majoring in journalism, marketing, public relations or related field
  • A demonstrated commitment to community service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and social media management preferred
  • Time commitment of 15 - 20 hours per week
