To declare a major in BAAS-AA-APAL students must submit documentation/evidence that they meet the following criteria.

Students continuing at UHD must meet the following criteria to be admitted into the BAAS-AA-APAL degree program as a declared major:

  • UHD GPA of 2.25 or higher
  • Completion of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from an institution accredited by a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recognized accrediting agency
  • Evidence of 3 years’ work experience in Public Administration to include, city, county, or state governmental agency, public school system, university/college or non-profit organization is recommended but not required.

Students transferring to UHD who meet the following criteria may be admitted into the BAAS-AA-APAL degree program as a declared major:

  • Transfer GPA of 2.25 or higher
  • Completion of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from an institution accredited by a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recognized accrediting agency
  • Evidence of 3 years’ work experience in Public Administration to include, city, county, or state governmental agency, public school system, university/college or non-profit organization is recommended but not required.

Students who do not meet all the criteria above will not be admitted into the BAAS-AA-APAL degree program and may be classified as Pre-Applied Administration or Applied Administration majors. However, students not on track to complete and transfer an AAS degree to UHD are strongly encouraged to meet with an advisor to select another degree program.
