UHD offers a flexible, affordable MBA with a wide range of certificates, allowing you to tailor your degree to your ambitions. You can also fast-track your expertise through eight specialized Graduate Certificates, focusing on your area of interest without completing the full MBA Core.
The University of Houston-Downtown offers a new and customizable General MBA! Students can choose between two General MBA pathways:
Mastery – this option best suits a student who has identified one specialization of interest
and wants to pursue it by completing the core MBA courses and completing a certificate
in one of the nine specializations (30 to 35 credits).
Synergy – allows students to choose two Graduate Specializations (i.e. Business Intelligence and Leadership, choose any 2 specializations) and take 3 courses (9 hours) from each of the two specializations chosen. This is 6 total classes, equaling 18 hours for the specializations. This option best suits a student who has two key areas of interest.
Discovery – the second pathway for the General MBA is an exploratory option: students take the same core classes as all of our MBA students and then take 5 classes (15 hours) from the specializations. Students can choose 5 courses; 2 classes from 2 specializations, and a fifth course from any of the specializations. This totals 5 classes, from 3 specializations and allows the student to expand their knowledge in a variety of fields.
