Mandatory Training

In accordance with Texas Labor Code 21.010, and University of Houston System institutional compliance requirements, including faculty, staff, student workers and temporary employees paid through the University payroll system, are required to complete at least the following training within the first 30 days of employment and annually thereafter.

In accordance with UH System Administrative Memorandum 02.A.26, Employee Development and Training, it is the responsibility of each employee to complete annual mandatory training. Employees who do not complete annual mandatory training by the published deadline will not have met their job expectations and will, therefore, not be eligible for merit increases. Supervisors are responsible for monitoring their employees' training performance.

EEO Training Explains laws preventing discrimination and sexual harassment.

FERPA

Sets forth requirements regarding the privacy of student records. FERPA governs: (1) the release of these records (known as education records) maintained by an educational institution, and (2) access to these records.
SOS Secure Our Systems (SOS) - Educates employees on how to protect sensitive information.
Ethics, Compliance, and Fraud Explains UH System requirements for ethical conduct, compliance with applicable laws, and how to recognize and report fraud.
UHS Data Use Agreement Informs employees of their principal obligations concerning use of UHS Information Resources.
HAZCOM Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) Rule requires employers to inform employee of all potentially hazardous chemical found in the workplace and steps the employees should take to minimize his/her exposure. This online training class fulfills the education requirements of the HAZCOM rule.
Digital Accessibility Basics Helps employees become familiar with digital accessibility. Highlights the benefits, technologies and practices, and legal compliance of digital accessibility, as well as how to support it.
UHD CSA Training Explains the Jeanne Clery Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Disclosure Act. Identifies members having Clery Act reporting responsibilities, outlines reporting requirements, and defines the steps to be taken to make a Clery Act report.
Conflict of Interest and Procurement Training Provides an overview of the procurement process and ethical conduct related to procurement required by UH System policy and state law.

Accessing Courses

This training is provided through the Training Access Portal (TAP), which may be accessed by using the UHD TAP Access Point.

Employees who meet at least one of the following criteria are also required to complete the Consulting and Outside Employment Application and Approval Form.

  • Full-time faculty (excludes adjunct faculty)
  • Exempt (salaried) employees
  • Non-exempt (biweekly) employees with purchasing responsibilities
