Job Summary
The Manager of AV and Structured Cabling Services oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure and audiovisual systems across the University. This role provides expert consultation and recommendations for projects, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and goals. The manager leads and supervises team members, coordinates with vendors and contractors, and ensures high-quality service delivery for all structured cabling and AV installations.
Duties
- Oversees all structured cabling operations, including copper and fiber installations, as well as Video Network Services functions.
- Manages the cabling infrastructure team and Video Network Services staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality service delivery.
- Configures, programs, and provision audiovisual systems and related equipment to meet project and operational requirements.
- Collaborates with vendors to develop accurate quotes, design documents, and implement plans.
- Researches and evaluates emerging AV technologies and industry trends; partner with the Director to develop technology roadmaps and strategic implementation plans.

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Associate degree, 60 hours of college course work, or vocational training in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Systems Management, or a related field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of job-related experience
License/Certification
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge AV and structured cabling best practices
- AMX programing and design
- Q-sys training
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Broad understanding of Audio Visual and structured cable plant design
- Understanding of servers, workstations, web services, and networking
Skills:
- Strong AV programming skills
- Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office, PDF tools, and CAD or related software
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good organizational and planning skills.

Abilities:
- Ability to manage people; ability to troubleshoot issues; ability to assess scenarios for addressing fixes, unplanned outages, and work arounds.

Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in some or all the following environments during the working day; an office (6 to 8 hours); a classroom, training room, or an auditorium (2 to 4 hours)
Physical Demands:
- Work is usually performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
- Individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc.
- May occasionally be required to work in a confined space or in inclement weather conditions.
- May occasionally be exposed to vibration or be at risk of an electrical shock.
- Must be able to move up to 35lbs.
- Stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders as needed for installations
